Project Overview: Asia-Pacific M&A Strategy

Client: WorldWide Brewing Co.

Role: Investment Banking Analyst (Simulation)

Sector: Consumer & Retail / M&A

The Challenge

WorldWide Brewing Co. sought to solidify its global footprint by expanding into the high-growth markets of Southeast Asia. As part of the JPMC advisory team, I was tasked with identifying a target company that offered the best strategic synergy, financial health, and entry point into the APAC region. The challenge was to filter through noise and provide a data-backed recommendation to the Managing Director.

The Solution

I conducted a multi-phase analysis to narrow down the ideal acquisition target. This involved:

  • Strategic Filtering: Evaluating five potential targets based on geographic presence, product portfolio, and ownership structure.

  • Valuation Modeling: Performing a comprehensive Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis on the top candidate (HappyHour Co.) to determine intrinsic value.

  • Sensitivity Analysis: Stress-testing the model against variables such as supply chain disruptions and aggressive competitor counter-bids.

Technical Execution

  • DCF Modeling: Calculated Terminal Value using the Exit Multiple method and discounted cash flows at a calculated WACC.

  • Target Assessment: Built a weighted-scoring matrix to compare qualitative and quantitative metrics across candidates.

  • Advisory Deck: Synthesized technical findings into a 2-page executive summary for client delivery.
